In Germany this series was called “Die
dreibeinigen Herrscher” which means something like "The three-legged Lords"^^ It was made around 1984-1985.
It was only once broadcast on television, at last for Germany where I live. (Maybe twice, but I don't know about it)
Today it is hard to remember much of it, but it is also hard to forget
the intensity it had.
I own the series one DVD Box (German) since Christmas 2009, but when I think back to before I had it, all
I still could remember was the plot of controlling people
by capping, which was horrifying, and the leading role of John Shackley as Will Parker.
Oh and of cause the Tripods, which where impressive!
It is a strange feeling when you think you remember something but you
are unsure if it was just a dream…
Some years ago I was trying to read the book to refresh my memories, but
there was no reprint of it available at that time. The older print was much too
expensive for my taste.
I was thinking it over many times but never bought one. I gave up looking for it.
Even though there was a reprint short after my search, I never found out
until now.
I have the books now. Wow, it are three, I didn't know!
I don’t know how and why, but somehow my sister could remember that I
was looking for the book or anything about the series.
Well, at Christmas 09 she gave me the DVD Box for Christmas present. I
couldn’t believe my eyes as I unwrapped the paper to read “Die dreibeinigen Herrscher – DVD”.
Ha ha, it was such a big surprise, I didn’t knew it was out since October
2009.
I had a warm feeling when I was finally able to watch it after all that
years. And I never thought I would love it THAT much!
I think the Tripods and especially John Shackley as Will Parker deserve a little shrine.
Wasn't he a handsome young man? One to remember? Aww, I think so!
I'll try to collect more stuff for this shrine, but for now I only have screencaps of
Shackley and the Tripods. I also uploaded a short slash fan fiction, though the translation into english is very poor and unfinished.

Tripods of "War of the Worlds" and Triops (tadpole shrimp) that I breed. Don't they look alike? I think the Tripods were designed after Triops. There also is a resemblance in the names. Triops means "three eyes".
